[ET102] Ein Profil – I’m in Real Life – Where are You?

i'm in real life - where are you?

I’m in Real Life – Where are You?” is Ein Profil’s attempt at expressing the feelings of falling in love while still young and naive. The album evokes various emotions as well as sentimental memories of that summer we all have been through – no matter who we are or where we live. It’s kitchy, it’s inscrutable – it’s dilettantish, it’s multi-faceted and loses itself to details. It’s you, it’s here, it’s now – a unique moment. There is no need to hurry even though billions of chances are running out — billions are created at the very same time. Take your time and feel free to listen to Ein Profil. FREE Download here

Ein Profil comes from Germany where he lives in the beautiful town of Marburg. He especially prefers the sound of strings and chimes and is fond of melodies placed into hollow or wafting backgrounds. He is highly interested in collaborations, so feel free to contact him!

[ET101] djozr & Lezet – Split

Split

Enjoy our first release for autumn 2016 numbered ET101 by djozr and Lezet artists. Free Download here.

The sophomore effort by a duo of old friends is a collaboration as much as it is a split release. It documents a radical departure from the sounds and approaches hitherto associated with Djozr and Lezet, and ventures into dangerously new terrains for both artists. But even despite this, the split feels more like a unified body of work than a mere collection of new songs.

djozr (d͡ʒoʊ.zɹ) is an ambient drone glitch project by Glenn Bryce.

Lezet is an experimental music project from Serbia.

[ET100] Janne Nummela – Alla-attapan

Alla-attapan

“These two great terrestrial Chinese learned beings then had recourse for their elucidatory experiments to every kind of what are called ‘chemical,’ ‘physical,’ and ‘mechanical’ experiments and they gradually formed one very complicated and in the highest degree edifying experimental apparatus, which they called ‘Alla-attapan.’”

Gurdjieff: Beelzebub’s Tales

We welcome Janne Nummela from Finland. Enjoy his first work for Etched Traumas titled ‘Alla-attapan’. ‘Alla-attapan’ is an experimental improvisatory fantasy in parallel universe “chinese opera” tradition.

[ΕΤ96] ΚΑΤΑΠΥΓΩΝ & Melodie Des Vergessens – ΧΥΜΟΣ ΑΓΙΟΣ

ΧΥΜΟΣ ΑΓΙΟΣ

Χυμός Άγιος – may be translated either “Holy Juice” or “Holy Substance”, refering in the first interpretation to Orange Juice with LSD of Merry Pranksters, but more likely to the sacral beverage of Proto-Indo-Europeans (sanscr. सोम, avest. haoma, Proto-Indo-Iranian *sauma-). There is a theory, that the main component of this sacral drink was Ephedra and our predilection to ephedrine-liking substances at the moment of creation the “Χυμός Άγιος” caused the drunken, dionysiac and insane character of this music.
The second interpretation of title – “The Sacral Substance” – refer to the philosophocal context of Ancient Greeks (Plutarch and some others) and in this context is associated and connected etymologically to the word “chemistry”. In this sence our collaboration was the trial of inner-alchemical process and synthesis.

[ET94] Martin Hoogeboom – The Garden

The Garden

The music on ‘The Garden’ was created with the Super 8 films (https://youtu.be/IdHePjYqu-A) by independent movie director Derek Jarman (1942-1994) in mind. These films show Jarman at his most visually courageous and creative, using prisms, filters and superimposition to produce rich colour and artistically bold compositions. The transient images, isolated like paintings, are the essence of Derek Jarman and his visual vocabulary.

‘The Garden’: tribute to a great artist.

Etched Traumas Vol. III 2013-2014 [ET51-ET78]

Our first release for 2016. This is the third compilation of our releases [ET51-ET78]. We would like to thank all the contributing artists and our downloaders. Have a happy new year!! There are fantastic projects in the near future. You can ‘like’ our Facebook page.

ETCompilationVolIII

We feel like explorers; we travel light years in distance via unheard sounds springing from our lungs. Armed with a DAW, and a poor quality audio recorder, for new situations. There are rules to override, and wires to stretch. Capture the sound of stretching a copper string, an accidental breaking of glass and suddenly we are between mellowness and harshness, sadness and happiness. We are here to make a joyful noise, because all impulses escape stereotyping.

‘Our model is sound’, so lets go down and burn up the road. Leave your etched traumas behind.

Amazing Creative Commons licensed music.

[ET91] Tide Jewel – Into The Armory Of Doves

Into The Armory Of Doves

Connecting drone from sketches, prayers, and incantations by the solo pianist Tide Jewel, we present “Into The Armory Of Doves”, a sequence of instrumental messages brought about out of years of cosmic abandon, solitude, vertigo, suicide attempts, situational anxiety, and what is historically referred to as “acedia”. This work unites a unique menagerie of influences including Haibane Renmei (created by author Yoshitoshi Abe) and Sylvia Plath poems (selected favorites include ‘Flute Notes From A Reedy Pond’, ‘Crossing The Water’, ‘I Am Vertical’, ‘Aquatic Nocturne’, ‘Gold Mouths Cry’, ‘Apprehensions’ etc.). It also shows the influence of Chihei Hatakeyama and Asuna in its’ ambition and time lengths. Less obvious is the import of noisier acts like the late Jason DiEmilio of Azusa Plane (who Tide Jewel sites as a singular influence with songs like “United States Direct Investment In Other Countries” being a personal favorite), as well as Prurient, Pharmakon, and Merzbow. Tide Jewel would personally like to thank Danji Buck-Moore, of Canada’s aPicturesqueVenusTransit, who told him over the course of a conversation they were having “May you find substance in all that you do”.

The cover painting is by the late Agnes Pelton, a spiritually engaging work called “Winter” (1933) used with the blessing/permission of Peter Palladino of the Agnes Pelton society.

http://www.agnespeltonsociety.com/ May this record find you well.

Tide Jewel encourages you to listen to this record in an environment that isn’t crowded with noise, or on headphones from start to finish

CREDITS:

Tide Jewel is a solo pianist who began making electronic music in 2011. Inspired by the home-recording practices of Baths and Oh Land, he/she/it engendered on a path from glossolalic-laptop tunes to electroacoustic drone pieces, inspired by literature, anime, and farming. His style is jokingly referred to as “flower electronics”, since the greatest import of his work comes from listening to nosier acts like Swans, The Blood Brothers, and Pharmakon etc., filtering this mode of listening through his own praxis. All songs are considered “poems” and “prayers”, unfinished sketches to encounter the One.

[ET90] Ryukau – Muryoku

Muryoku

Muryoku is aimed to put sounds like natural ambient noise. Sound texture is influenced by Jon Hassell’s work.

‘I was born in Japan and started to make music since 2004. My main focus is to make sounds that can be musical on very high volume environment. Two most important artist for me are Merzbow (high volume environment) and Yasushi Miura (techniques of synthesis and audio editing).’

[ET89] No Way Out – ‘Untitled’

Untitled.

This ‘Untitled’ work is based on the annoying tape noise & hiss. But instead of hiding what most of us dislike, I’ve tried to reveal their inner potential.
Indeed, this raw & minimal material, after sculpting, becomes an immersive soundscape made of intensity & introspectives phases.

CREDITS:

No Way Out is a french experimental project active since 2009. Through the years the sound evolved from dark ambient to bruitisme, including neo-classical elements amongst many other styles (but mainly in the experimental field). But whatever the medium No Way Out uses, the soul of his projects remain the same. Each album must be seen as a new chapter of the same story.

[ET88] 5158 – Side To Side

Side To Side

Side to side is a 4 tracks EP exploring several musical territories, textures and grooves. This is the first release of the duo but certainly not the last.

Created in 2013, 5158 is a collaborative project between Sound of Freedom and Arbee. 5158 km separates these two Canadian musicians. This great distance is not enough to stop spreading a common interest, across the land and the airwaves. Sharing a passion for electronic music, ambient vibes, and sound texturing, quickly evolved in this tangible project. Passion, imagination and music have no physical limits.

[ET87] Daniele Ciullini – Fiori Dimenticati

Fiori Dimenticati

Etched Traumas is more than proud to release ‘Fiori Dimenticati‘ the latest work of Italian artist Daniele Ciullini. The three track EP is an exemplary conjunction of electrified industrial and rhythmic sounds. Reversed vocals, huge electric stabs and brooding ambiance are being blended with well crafted rhythm patterns. In contrary to the sterile vein of typical Italian noise/industrial works, Ciullini structures ‘Fiori Dimenticati‘ either on solid rhythm patterns or dark melodic soundscapes. Enjoy! Download here

CREDITS:

Beginning in 1978 with photography, Ciullini participates in the mail art network until 1980 and in several exhibitions and catalogs. During this period he also produces his own mail art fanzine ‘The Oxidized Look‘ and participates in many graphic design issues by multimedia project Trax.

Between 1980 and 1986 he focuses on music works with two self-produced tapes + booklet ‘Domestic Exile’ and ‘Nouances’. He also participates in various audiotape compilations, radio shows and vinyl compilations.

Danielle Ciullini

After a very long hiatus, Ciullini releases in 2011 his first work ‘Il bacio della sirena’ – an audio cd given with the Italian art magazine ‘Bau’ and published by several netlabels.

In 2013 London’s label Strut records selects his old track ‘Ancora Icone’ for the vinyl compilation ‘Mutazione’ of 80’s Italian New Wave and Industrial music.

In 2014 he releases a new work titled ‘Musica per architetture abbandonate’, which is digitally distributed by Audioglobe. In the same year ‘Resti’ is digitally released by Quantum bit, Editoria do Porto, Ephedrina. Stato Elettrico releases ‘Virus’, a digital selection extracted from ‘Resti’ and ‘Sound Recycling Terminal (again)’ is digitally published by Nostalgie de la boue.

In 2015 London’s label Ecstatic Records releases ‘Domestic exile – collected works 1982-1986’ a vinyl record including the homonym audio-work, plus all tracks that have been released on audio-cassette by various labels during that period. In 2015 Ephedrina includes his new single track ‘Ruggine nell’erba’ in digital compilation titled ‘Magma sound n.4’.
